Local Associations

Today, there are 148 local alumni associations present wherever there are French schools. One of the main missions of the Union-ALFM is to federate and consolidate this network, but also to help create new structures.

To achieve this objective, the association offers 3 services to local associations:

1- LOCAL ASSOCIATION AGORA:

Once every 2 months, the Union-ALFM organizes a meeting to enable local association representatives to get together and discuss the issues and difficulties they face, and share best practices. These meetings enable associations to work together on specific issues, and to take joint action so as to speak with one voice to establishments and institutions.

At present, some twenty people representing 18 local associations in 14 countries take part in these meetings. The fruitful exchanges have already led to the drafting of a charter with a view to the deployment of the Union Ambassadors scheme (see below).

2- THE AMBASSADORS OF THE UNION-ALFM :

In parallel with these meetings, in September 2020 the Union-ALFM launched a scheme to create a network of Ambassadors across the 139 countries where the AEFE and the Mission laïque are present. This program is essential for structuring the global network of alumni of French lycées around the world, and will also contribute to the development of the network of local associations.

Eventually, in each city where there is a French school, there will be an Ambassador whose main mission will be to act as a link between the local network and the Union-ALFM. He or she will be appointed by the local association(s) in the country in question.

3- CREATING A DEDICATED GROUP ON THE ALFM PLATFORM

Any local association, whether legally constituted or not, can create a group dedicated to its alumni on the Union-ALFM digital platform.

This will enable them to take advantage of modern tools to manage their community and publish personalized content (events, news, documents, etc.).
